Making the step up from League One was never going to be easy, even after a 2022/23 season when they picked up 101 points, but the Pilgrims have given a good account of themselves.
They pushed a Southampton side packed with Premier League experience all the way before losing to them 2-1 at Home Park on Saturday after a goal in the fourth minute of added time from Scotland international striker Che Adams.
It was still a performance which Schumacher could take positives out of, such as the impressive displays of centre-backs Lewis Gibson and Dan Scarr, and striker Ryan Hardie scoring his second goal in three Championship games this term.
