PLYMOUTH'S "Uber for removals" group, Shift, has undergone a major "restructure", after one of its companies went bust leaving debts of more than £8 million.
The "innovative logistics platform" based at Royal William Yard, is now concentrating on its commercial clients, such as Ikea, after deciding to no longer carry out household removals.
It has launched a new website aimed at business clients and stressed it is still operating from its Mills Bakery offices, where staff are still employed, but its subsidiary SG Platform Ltd has gone into liquidation, with estimated debts of £8.5 million unlikely to be paid.
A meeting of creditors was called in July and it was decided to voluntarily wind up the firm. Documents filed at Companies House revealed SG Platform, formerly known as Shift Group Ltd, left assets of £487,093 which will go towards paying a huge tax bill of more than £2 million.
