I decided to have another go at French lessons. Did my O-level but never really man aged much more than a ticket to Gare St Lazare. Oh, and I can navigate my way round a menu, although I did come unstuck once in Brittany with a dish that smelled of the harbour at low tide and quite frankly tasted like it.

Anyway, use it or lose, they say, so I'm back to basics and hoping that some of it will stick this time. Funny, isn't it, at school all I wanted to do was sit at the back and muck around.

These days all I want is to sit at the front and have it drilled in to me, but most adult classes seem intent on you being relaxed and having fun. So pass me les juggling balls, mes amis!
