The 20-year-old midfielder, signed on a season-long loan from Premier League club Everton, played for the first 70 minutes of a 3-1 defeat.
Warrington, who has had previous loans to Tranmere Rovers and Fleetwood Town, was deployed as the deepest sitting of the three midfield players in Steven Schumacher’s 4-3-3 formation.
He has added to the competition for places in that area of the squad, alongside Matt Butcher, Jordan Houghton, Adam Randell and Callum Wright.
Herald Sport has asked Joe Thomas, the Everton correspondent for the Liverpool Echo, for his insight into Warrington and what type of player Argyle are getting.
What has been Lewis Warrington’s background at Everton? How highly is he regarded at the club?
Lewis Warrington is a popular player within the Everton setup and has a sizeable following among the fanbase - particularly after he shot to prominence when Frank Lampard took him on the pre-season trip to the US last summer.
He has moved up the age groups since joining the club at the age of six and is one of those to have come closest to a breakthrough into the senior team.
His loan spell at Tranmere Rovers attracted a following as he earned positive reviews and he was then involved in every one of Everton’s pre-season fixtures last year.
