From '20 till '24, troops have detected 1,122 IEDs as part of their counter-offensive warfare

THE United Nations has cited Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) as a grave worldwide threat, which equally remains a serious challenge during any ongoing operation carried out by the well-equipped security forces in the conflict-ridden regions of Chhattisgarh's Bastar for the past four decades now.

The Maoists waging the battle against the forces and state rely heavily on the combat-avoiding nature of IED attacks in the virtual war zone.

In guerrilla warfare, an IED is the easiest and deadliest weapon for Maoists facing a pushback to target the security forces or other soft options.

On Monday, the Maoist rebels detonated a powerful IED blast, killing eight jawans and a civilian driver in the Bijapur district.
