KANNUR city is grappling with a worsening stray dog crisis due to inadequate Animal Birth Control (ABC) centres and the practice of releasing sterilised dogs back onto the streets. On Friday, seven people, including children, were injured in separate dog attacks, marking the second such incident in a week. This has resulted in public outrage.
Those injured in Friday's attacks include Hawa, 12, Ashir, 36, Abdul Waheed, 34, Muhammed Nisar, 62, Anas, 14, Harris, 62, and Suresh, 50. Five of the victims received treatment at the district hospital, while two were admitted to Kannur Government Medical College Hospital. All were vaccinated and discharged after observation.
