AFTER A LONG gap of four years, the tourism industry in Idukki is rebounding as major tourism centres in the district witnessed a record tourist turnout this Christmas season. As per the data available with the Idukki district tourism promotion council (DTPC), over 2 lakh tourists visited the centres run by DTPC since the holiday season began on December 21.
The highest turnout was recorded on Saturday with 30,534 tourists visiting the centres, including Wagamon, Ramakkalmedu, Panchalimedu, Munnar Botanical Garden, Aruvikuzhy Waterfalls, Hill View Park in Idukki, SN Puram, Mattuppetty and Amappara.
