Meanwhile, Cong slams BJP's 'distraction politics'
The New Indian Express Madurai|December 20, 2024
HOURS after the Parliament showdown, Congress on Thursday launched a blistering attack on the BJP, accusing it of diverting attention from Home Minister Amit Shah's "insult" to BR Ambedkar.
- PREETHA NAIR @ New Delhi

Addressing a joint press meet at the AICC headquarters in the capital, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge and LoP in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi condemned Shah's remarks on Ambedkar and demanded his resignation and an apology.

Gandhi said while the Congress had sought Shah's resignation, it had not been granted. He added, "Today again Shah tried to divert the issue".

He explained that Congress MPs were peacefully marching from Ambedkar's statue to Parliament when BJP MPs blocked their entry on the stairs. He insisted that Amit Shah has insulted Ambedkar and should apologize and resign.
