CM says he never met Adani, asks if PMK, BJP support JPC probe

CHIEF Minister M K Stalin, responding to a question from PMK floor leader G K Mani in the Assembly on Tuesday, said he had never met industrialist Gautam Adani and sought to know if the BJP and its ally, the PMK, would support the demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe into the Adani issue.

Mani, during his speech in zero hour, pointed to media reports about a case being registered in the US against Adani, which included purported dealings between his company and the Tamil Nadu government, and sought the DMK government's response.

Responding to him, Stalin said, "Neither I nor the present Tamil Nadu government has any connection in the matter. I have never met him, and he has never met me."

Referring to the remarks of PMK leaders made outside the House, the CM said that while the PMK leaders repeatedly raised questions about his alleged meeting with Adani, they avoided raising the issue in the Assembly probably because they know the truth that such a meeting never happened.

Stalin further said Electricity Minister V Senthilbalaji has already provided detailed clarifications on the issue multiple times.

Pointing out that the PMK and the BJP were often making false allegations against the DMK government, the CM asked whether the two parties would support the INDIA bloc's demand in Parliament for a JPC probe into the allegations against Adani.
