NMC asks institutes to implement robust anti-ragging mechanisms

TAKING note of the increased incidents of ragging in medical colleges—in some cases victims taking the extreme step—the National Medical Commission (NMC) has asked all institutions to implement robust anti-ragging mechanisms, failing which strict action will be taken.

NMC secretary B Srinivas, in a notice to the principals and deans of all medical colleges and institutions, referred to an earlier notice issued by the Postgraduate Medical Board (PGMEB) president and chairman Dr Vijay Oza on December 9, pertaining to ragging incidents. "All concerned stakeholders are requested to take note of the same (PGMEB notice) kindly," Srinivas said.
