In last two years, the Railways has collected a whopping ₹5.13 crore by way of fines from 3,30,132 offenders violating the cleanliness norms at its premises, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed Rajya Sabha recently.
The minister highlighted that while Railways has been diligent in cleaning up areas soiled by tobacco chewers and litterbugs, maintaining cleanliness remains an ongoing challenge. "Cleanliness is a continuous process. Every effort is made to keep railway premises clean," Vaishnaw said.
