The Indian Tea Association (ITA) has welcomed reports that the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has updated its final rule on the "healthy" nutrient content claim, officially recognizing tea as a "healthy" beverage.
The ITA called the development a pivotal moment for the tea industry. In a press statement, the ITA highlighted that the FDA's decision not only validates the nutritional value of tea but also empowers consumers to make informed dietary choices.
"This significant update allows manufacturers to voluntarily label tea products as 'healthy' if they meet the updated criteria. It underscores the numerous health benefits of tea and reinforces our commitment to promoting tea as a healthful beverage choice," the ITA stated.
