Market shows mixed trend on final trading day

About 2,239 shares advanced, 1,571 shares declined, 97 shares were unchanged

Benchmark indices showed a mixed trend on Tuesday, the final trading day of 2024. Gains in pharma, PSU banks, and oil and gas stocks provided some relief.

At close, Sensex was down 109.12 points or 0.14 per cent at 78,139.01, and the Nifty was up 13.25 points or 0.06 per cent at 23,658.15.

About 2,239 shares advanced, 1,571 shares declined, and 97 shares were unchanged.

Mid and small-cap indices outperformed as the BSE Midcap index climbed 0.13 per cent while the BSE Small-cap index rose 0.71 per cent.
