The blast, which took place at approximately 11 am, left at least two others injured. The house where the crackers were being manufactured has been completely destroyed, reduced to rubble.
Eyewitnesses reported that the intensity of the explosion was so severe that the bodies of the victims were scattered throughout the site, including in nearby ponds.
The local villagers, overwhelmed by grief and anger not only attacked the police personnel who arrived at the scene after the explosion but also prevented Trinamul Congress leaders from visiting the site.
