Justice Lapita Banerji, in her order on 9 June, said: "The interim order passed on May 18 2023, be extended till June 30 this year or until further orders, whichever is earlier."
Notably, Justice Raja Basu Chowdhury, in his interim order on 18 May, had said: "Considering the submission made by the parties, I am of the view that till 12 June 2023 the advisory dated 27 April 2023, issued by the Labour Department, should not be given effect to."
On behalf of the planters, it was stated before the Court that "the Labour Commissioner has unilaterally raised the aforesaid wages of the daily rated workers of organised tea gardens"
