KYIV - Russia unleashed its largest drone and missile attack on Ukraine in months on Dec 29, killing 18 civilians, wounding more than 130 and hitting residential buildings in Kyiv, the south and west of the country, officials said.
In the capital Kyiv at least three people were reported dead and 22 confirmed wounded after residential buildings and an uninhabited property were hit, police and other officials said.
"Today, millions of Ukrainians awoke to the loud sound of explosions. I wish those sounds of explosions in Ukraine could be heard all around the world," Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said, urging the country's allies to step up their support.
The vast end-of-year sault comes as uncertainty is swirling over the scale and staying power of future Western military and financial support for Ukraine nearly two years into the war with Russia.
