Opposition candidate seals victory in Jakarta governor race

JAKARTA - A candidate backed by Indonesia's opposition won the gubernatorial race in the capital Jakarta, defeating his rival who had the support of President Prabowo Subianto.

Former Cabinet secretary Pramono Anung received 50.07 percent of the votes during the Nov 27 polls, just above the 50 percent threshold that allows him to secure victory in a single round, the General Elections Commission said on Dec 8.

Mr Ridwan Kamil, backed by Mr Prabowo and his predecessor Joko Widodo, trailed with 39.4 percent of the votes.

Veteran duo star as Jaguars halt six-match losing run

This season's Singapore Premier League (SPL) had been a source of torment for Raihan Rahman, who could only watch as a frustrated spectator while his former team Tanjong Pagar United struggled. On Jan 18, that frustration found a release as the defensive midfielder came off the bench to set up fellow substitute Sahil Suhaimi for the equaliser to salvage a 1-1 draw against the Young Lions at the Jalan Besar Stadium.
