Workers urged to upskill to retain competitive edge, advance in careers
The Straits Times|August 01, 2024
The best way for workers to cope with the rising cost of living is to keep upgrading their skills so they can take on better jobs, said labour chief Ng Chee Meng.
Joanna Seow

Mr Ng, the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) secretary-general, said in his National Day message to workers on Aug 1: "With relevant skill sets, workers can retain their competitive edge, remain agile and be adaptive to changing needs of the workplace, and advance in their careers."

He noted that NTUC has formed more than 2,300 company training committees in the past five years to help companies, unions and workers collaborate on training and productivity initiatives.
