Fury at cop appeal for volunteers in rape cases

CASH-STRAPPED police criticised for poor sex case conviction rates are now asking volunteers to help them catch rapists.

Sussex Police, which has a £17 million hole in its finances, wants members of the public to trawl CCTV footage.

A job advert says they will play a key role" and help investigate "serious sexual offences, child abuse and high-risk domestic violence matters".

Four-hour shifts in Brighton will also see them help nail shoplifters and track down people reported missing.
