LUKA MODRIC reckons his Real Madrid side have something in common with Liverpool as they face each other in the Champions League on Wednesday- both are suffering a terrible domestic season.
Real arrive at Anfield looking to add to Liverpool's current misery, but there's no chance of former Tottenham man Modric mocking the Reds, as Real find themselves badly adrift of rivals Barcelona in La Liga.
Second place in Spain may not sound a disaster but for the newly-crowned Club World Cup champions it's still an embarrassment.
Especially as they lost the Spanish Super Cup Final to Barca - and recently suffered a shock defeat at Mallorca in the league.
Modric said: "I am really surprised that Liverpool are so far behind in the Premier League, but they can also say the same about us at the moment in La Liga.
"Seeing the Liverpool squad, we know that at any time they can react and start to come back in the season. I hope it won't be in these two Champions League games against us but we have to be ready.
