REVOLUTIONARY drugs that can double the life expectancy of people with cystic fibrosis will be available more widely on the NHS, thanks to a deal with the maker.
Cystic fibrosis is a life-limiting lung condition, with sufferers previously expected to live only until their late 30s without a rare lung transplant.
But one CFTR modulator medicine, Kaftrio, has been shown to relieve symptoms and extend life expectancy by up to 40 years in 90% of patients.
