Hyderabad: The number of seats in core engineering courses like electrical, mechanical and civil is likely to come down further in the coming academic year as Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad has issued a no-objection certificate (NOC) to colleges to increase/decrease intake in a particular course.
These seats will be replaced by intake in emerging tech courses like artificial intelligence, machine learning and data science, among others. Last year, the number of seats in civil engineering was reduced by 1,170 seats, while seats in EEE and ECE branches came down by 1,440 and 2,130 respectively. About 7,000-8,000 seats were added in emerging tech courses in 2021.
