SC nixes plea challenging DYC appointment as CJI

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday dismissed a petition challenging the appointment of Justice DY Chandrachud as the next Chief Justice of India and to restrain him from taking oath of office on November 9 and termed it “completely misconceived”.

As the petition was mentioned for an urgent hearing, a bench of CJI UU Lalit, Justices S Ravindra Bhat and Bela M Trivedi agreed to hear the case 15 minutes before lunch break and dismissed it after a brief hearing.
