Mumbai: Congress observer Mallikarjun Kharge and senior leader HK Patil were also present apart from other top leaders of the MVA. However, some smaller parties in the coalition whose support may prove crucial in the polls stayed away.
Thackeray said the MVA had the numbers to win four seats. "No matter how much they try, MVA is firm and strong...this is a strange situation since a longstanding tradition (of having unopposed nominations to the RS) has been broken by the BJP. We will win 100%. We will then win all our seats in the Council polls and will have a celebration in Mumbai of the MVA after that," he said.
