Nagpur: Maharashtra assembly speaker Rahul Narvekar on Tuesday mooted a proposal that first-time MLAs and women legislators should be allotted one day or a session to speak on various issues, including those related to their constituencies. This experiment would commence from the winter session in the city scheduled from December 19 to 30.
Speaking to TOI, Narvekar, who is youngest speaker of any state assembly in the country, said he would table the proposal before the forthcoming Business Advisory Council (BAC) meeting to be held in the city.
The speaker, who was in the city along with legislative council deputy chairman Neelam Gorhe for reviewing the preparations for the winter session, spoke to TOI on various initiatives taken by him after taking over the reins on July 3.
