However, captain Hardik Pandya’s run out in the 18th over gave the fivetime IPL champions a window of opportunity, which Indians clinged on to for a close win.
Earlier, Tim David’s late assault of 44 runs (2x4, 4x6) in 21 balls, guided the Indians to 177/6 in 20 overs. Inviting his former team to bat after winning the toss, Pandya and his bowlers were at the receiving end of a short but belligerent innings from Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma, who was elegance personified and looked in full flow.
