Mumbai: The state government is expected to make a new offer of Rs 1,600 crore for the Air India building in Nariman Point to expand Mantralaya, reports Chaitanya Marpakwar.
Three years after it first made a bid to buy the building for Rs 1,450 crore, the state decided to make the higher offer to the civil aviation ministry while adding a condition that the Centre give it “100% unencumbered possession” of the building, said a cabinet minister.
Last month, deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis met civil aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and urged him to give preference to the state government for the building. The Reserve Bank of India is also said to be interested in buying the building.
Fadnavis had said that Scindia agreed to give priority to the state government.
