Mumbai: Heavy showers on Thursday saw total stock in the lakes that supply water to the city rise by another 10% to 66% nearly 10 lakh million litres. In the past 24 hours, almost all the lakes recorded triple-digit rainfall.
Tansa lake that supplies water to Mumbai began to overflow at 8.50pm on Thursday. It is the second lake to overflow this season after Modak Sagar on Wednesday.
Tansa supplies around 400 million litre of potable water to the city daily, which is almost 10% of the total.
