New Delhi: For the past 27 years, Lakshmi Devi, who lives in a JJ cluster near Bangla Sahib Gurdwara, has been visiting Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital or Lady Hardinge Medical College for issues related to gynaecology. But with a new dedicated mahila mohalla clinic in her neighbourhood, she hopes the waiting time will be much less.

“I had to wait in long queues even for small complications in government hospitals. Now, I won’t have to waste time. I had heard of mohalla clinics but our locality didn’t have one. This clinic is a boon, especially for pregnant women as they won’t have to travel far,” Devi said.

On Wednesday, the city got four mahila mohalla clinics, developed as special primary healthcare facilities exclusively for women. The facilities are located at Basti Vikas Kendra JJ camp; Moti Lal Nehru camp, Munirka; Sector 4 DIZ area near Bangla Sahib Gurdwara; and Sapera Basti in Kondli.
