Kolkata: Mukherjee lived in another flat on the first floor. Before she was arrested by ED for a cash haul of over Rs 21 crore in her flat a week ago, she would go to the upper-floor kennel every day and take the dogs out for a walk.
The dogs have not been spotted outside the flat since her arrest. Neighbours said the two hired hands taking care of her pets have been seen entering the flat a few times. No one is sure how many pedigree dogs are there in the apartment. The number varies between nine and five.
An NGO, Voice For the Voiceless, that works with animals claimed they had approached the ED to hand over the dogs after the arrest of Chatterjee and Mukherjee. “They assured us they will get in touch, but nothing has been done so far,” said its president Abhijit Mukherjee.
