Congress on Friday said the decision is bad in law, “totally unacceptable, completely erroneous”, and not in consonance with the spirit of India. Congress MP Abhishek Singhvi said the party even disagreed with the views of Sonia, Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi, who said they’d forgiven the six, because “the sovereignty, integrity and identity of the nation is involved in a PM’s assassination”, reports Swati Mathur. The party said it will use all legal remedies at its disposal to challenge the release of the convicts, since the SC order raises multiple questions, including how it will deal with similar claims in future, and how it failed to give sufficient weight to the stand taken by the Centre, which has consistently disagreed with the position of the Tamil Nadu government.
