VICTIM’S BROTHER SAYS - Rajesh (the accused husband) said that he wanted to meet his children every week. While giving me custody, the court said that I had to ensure this... I was furious. Man who lost his sister decade ago relives pain

New Delhi: For Sujan Kumar Pradhan, the news of Shraddha Walkar’s murder was a rude reminder of the horror that he and his family also experienced when his sister, Anupama Gulati, was killed in a similar manner by her husband over a decade ago.

For Pradhan, the entire episode had been doubly traumatic because he was especially close to his sister. Recounting the trip to Dehradun to discover the gruesome killing of Anupama by her husband, Rajesh Gulati, Pradhan said on Tuesday, “It wasn’t just the murder. There was so much pain that followed.” From attending every court hearing for seven years to raising his sister’s twin children with his own, Pradhan spoke of the difficulties faced by the family.
