New Delhi: Even as Delhi government’s Electric Vehicle Policy completes two years next month, a new record has been created, with as many as 29,604 EVs having been sold in Delhi in 2022 till date. This is the highest ever annual figure, with more than five months still left for the year to end.
The EVs sold in Delhi this year already constitute 18.6% of all EVs registered in the capital till date. Sales first saw a major jump in 2016 with 21,690 EVs sold, compared with the 3,565 registered a year ago. The number remained around the 20,000mark, but the overall dip in vehicle sales in 2020 due to the Covid-19 outbreak saw EV numbers, too, come down to 12,381.
