This upcoming time travel point-and-click adventure is the latest from genre king Dave Gilbert of Wadjet Eye Games, known for the excellent Blackwell series, and more recently urban fantasy Unavowed. Old Skies started life as a prototype in a game jam, but it’s certainly grown a lot since then…
From the moment I drop into the demo of Old Skies, time agent Fia Quinn’s personality is firmly established. She’s confident, humorous with a sarcastic undertone, and suitably weary of the management at her time-hopping job. Despite her unconventional work, her tone is almost familiar to the player, like an old friend. That’s always a good start for a point-and-click adventure. It helps that she has someone to talk to: her handler Nozzo, who adds narrative flavour as well as being someone she can check in with when you get stuck.
