The long-awaited, full-fat sequel to Insomniac Games’ Marvel’s SpiderMan is almost here. While seeing the likes of Lizard and Kraven The Hunter forced to deal with the might of two Spider-Men, in the shape of Peter Parker and Miles Morales, appeals, it’s Venom who steals the show.
Well, not Venom exactly – but the inky black symbiote that will call itself Venom when it finds a host that’ll support their jacked up, comic-accurate form. Not only will Peter Parker have a story arc in the game where he embraces the symbiote suit and it starts to make him cranky, so can players thanks to official accessories. Both a special DualSense and PS5 face plates (for both disc and digital models) depict the classic Spidey red being overtaken by symbiosis.
PLATE UP
In the latter case, it’s a pretty big milestone for Sony. Not only is this the first official face plate set based on one of the company’s own game series, it’s also the first in the West to be more than a replacement colour (Japanese fans and importers could snap up a Final Fantasy XVI set a few months back). Both accessories can be nabbed from multiple retailers, and will also be available as part of a console bundle that includes a download for the game as well (but only the standard edition).
