Wives and girlfriends play a big part in cricketers' growth. Their constant support and ability to look after their spouses in their lows and highs are what every sportsperson wants. Unfortunately, not every cricketer is fortunate to have a partner who helps them grow. Instead, so many cricketers saw a rough patch in their personal life that hogged the headlines and affected their on-field performance. Infidelity and mental and physical abuse are a few of many instances where due to a partner's actions, they had to go in different directions in their personal lives. This article will focus on five occasions when cricketers hogged headlines for their estranged marriages.
1. MOHAMMED SHAMI AND HASIN JAHAN In 2018, India star pacer Mohammed Shami hogged headlines after his estranged wife, Hasin Jahan, accused him of adultery and domestic abuse. Hasin Jahan filed a case against Shami for regularly beating her up and having an extra-marital affair for which she claimed to have proof. Following the media hype, the police filed non-bailable charges against him. Shami recently opened up about how he was affected by this and even had suicidal thoughts. Recently, Shami suffered a setback after the court ordered him to pay 1,30,000 in alimony, as opposed to the 10,00,000 demanded by his wife.
