MIDDLESBROUGH have reacted to the loss of star forward Chuba Akpom with a brace of new signings.
Emmanuel Latte Lath, a 24-year-old striker who scored 16 goals in 34 matches on loan at Swiss outfit St Gallen last season, has joined in a 5m euro deal from Serie A side Atalanta.
His capture ends Michael Carrick’s summer-long pursuit of a centre-forward after Boro failed to renew last season’s loan deal for Aston Villa youngster Cameron Archer.
Attacking full-back Lukas Engel, 24, has also joined from Danish Superliga side Silkeborg, with both players signing four-year contracts.
“Lukas is a good age,” said Carrick. “He’s already gained experience to a point and is looking to make the next step in his career.
