ETHAN KEEPS LEADERS FLYING

PORT Vale boss Darren Moore said his side showed their character after a late goal from Ethan Chislett gave the leaders a battling win over bottom club Morecambe.

Chislett scored the decisive goal of the game seven minutes from time in a game in which the Valiants were put under pressure by a morecambe side who put in a performance which belied their league position.

While Vale stand proudly five points clear of second-placed Crewe at the top of the table, Morecambe remain rooted to the bottom, three points from safety.

Moore said: "Sometimes you take more from games like this than any others because Morecambe caused us problems with their commitment and endeavour. They asked a lot of questions of us but credit to our boys, they showed a lot of character, kept going and consistently did the right thing which led to our goal.

"You could see Morecambe were getting tired after about 70 minutes so it was great to be able to bring on fresh legs.
