NAHKI Wells may be 34 but the Bermudan striker is far from content with his new role as an impact sub.
Wells hasn’t started a Championship game since April but served a reminder of his enduring talents by netting the winning penalty in last week’s 2-1 victory over Oxford.
Now the former Burnley, Huddersfield and Bradford striker is hoping for a bigger slice of game time after enduring a frustrating ten months under head coach Liam Manning.
“I still want to be starting, of course,” said Wells, who has scored 167 goals in 556 career games. “I don’t think anybody ever accepts being on the bench, whatever age they are.
“And I don’t think I’m not starting because the manager doesn’t think I’m capable. My physical data and physical output is extremely high. In terms of training, I’m doing everything right, and I’m sure the manager would agree that I’m delivering in that regard.
