It'll be tough to halt Dragons' charge

WREXHAM have made no secret of their desire to reach the Premier League, but first things first.

Can the Dragons, who are owned by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, make it back-to-back promotions after last season’s record-breaking campaign in the National League?

They are the bookies’ favourites, and with good reason. Wrexham will have the biggest budget in the division by a distance, and could quite comfortably take a top player away from a League One club.

Of course, having money and spending it are different things, and what Wrexham have done really well is future-proof their squad. Even in the National League, they were building a team of League One and League Two players who could go again after promotion.

It’s very similar to what Stockport did the year before, and they came within a penalty shoot-out of going up last season.

Rob and Ryan are - obviously - huge assets. What I saw when I went to Wrexham last year was the effort and the time that both of them put into the community.
