DABBER JON GETS A DABBLE - AT 27!

Nantwich Town had just been relegated from the Northern Premier League's top flight after a 14-year stay and the defender was desperate to help them return at the first attempt.

Instead, he tore his ACL at the start of pre-season.

"That was tough mentally," he told The NLP.

"And I would never have returned had the phone not rang." Fast forward 10 months, and this week Moran was Simpson appointed as the Dabbers' next manager following a short stint as caretaker.

He succeeds Paul Carden, the man who dialled his number last Christmas after a difficult December during which the team had failed to win a league game and occupied a position in the bottom half of the NPL West Division table.
