JOHNNO'S MACHINE KEEPS ON CHURNING
The Non-League Football Paper|October 13, 2024
PAUL JOHNSON told The NLP back in the summer that he wouldn’t mind, in a strange way, if Farnham Town’s unbeaten league streak came to an end.

It would, at least, relieve some of the pressure and expectation their winning machine has created.

But last week’s 6-3 win at Guernsey extended their epic run even further and took this season’s tally to eight Isthmian League South Central wins from eight.

It means Town – promoted as Invincibles from the Combined Counties Premier South last season – haven’t been beaten in the league in 56 games. That comes after finishing the 2022-23 campaign ten games without defeat.

And while Johnson still half-jokes he’s still looking forward to the run finishing, he couldn’t be happier with how they’ve taken to Step 4 football.

“The football we’re playing this year is excellent,” Johnson tells The NLP. “What’s most pleasing is we’ve kept the same principles and shape as we did last year. Obviously we brought in four or five players and they’ve needed to pick that up. It’s probably only in the last week it’s really starting to click.
