McParland keen to shine for England A

NORTHAMPTON scrum-half Archie McParland feels he has returned a better player following a nasty injury that denied him a World Cup winners medal and is now ready to fly into a new opportunity with England A.

McParland keen to shine for England A

The 19-year-old featured heavily in England U20s’ Six Nations victory last season but was forced to sit out of their successful World Championship campaign in the summer after sustaining an elbow injury during a warm up match against Georgia.

McParland has since returned to his previous form and has stepped up for Saints in the Premiership with England star Alex Mitchell, right, sidelined.

His renewed confidence and versatility has earned him a place in Mark Mapletoft’s England A side who play Australia XV today and McParland feels that training solely with Northampton this summer has had an instrumental impact on his development.

He told The Rugby Paper: "I was gutted after my injury and missing out on the U20s tour, but I think I've become a better player because of it. It was tricky watching the lads and wanting to be there with them - I've always wanted to win an U20s World Cup.
