In the limited time they have had together due to Underhill’s England commitments, Pepper says his fellow openside has made “a massive difference”.
“I grew up watching Sam and Tom Curry, analysing them, when I got older and more into rugby. I’ve actually only experienced being on the pitch with him once so far (when Bath played two 7s against Quins), but the communication we’ve had has made a massive difference in terms of having a wiser head next to me.”
Pepper could one day be Underhill’s successor for both club and country but for now, the 21-yearold summer signing from Newcastle is just looking to improve his game.
“I came to Bath to get better every day and so far, so good,” he said.
“I em enjoying it, Bath is a lovely city, and the whole stadium and The Rec is just different gravy, so I am really embracing the opportunities that I get.”
