Heard of the term - Quartz? Did you know that quartz is one of Earth’s most common and valuable minerals? Quartz is used in many modern gadgets and watches because of its remarkable properties. How quartz is used and how it works to create energy is interesting, to say the least. Quartz is a form of silicon dioxide that has a crystal structure. Quartz crystals have piezoelectricity, which means they can generate electric voltage when subjected to mechanical stress, such as bending or squeezing. The opposite is also true: quartz crystals can bend or vibrate when exposed to an electric voltage.
