The Rise of Language Models Changing Al Perception

An innovation that caught the world by surprise last year was the launch of OpenAl's ChatGPT-3. ChatGPT is an Al chatbot that utilizes the open-source Generative Pre-trained Transformer 3 (GPT-3) Natural Language Processing model. Basically, it is a chatbot that utilizes machine learning to understand what is being asked and provide the necessary answer based on what it was trained on.

Chatbots utilizing machine learning are not entirely new. If you open the social media pages of some of your favorite brands, you will find chatbots ready to answer your every query. However, there are limitations, as standard chatboxes cannot process complex requests they were not trained on.

ChatGPT and other Advance Language Models (like Bard, Bing, etc.) are different. Whereas most common chatbots are pre-train on a limited data set, these larger models are trained on a larger scale, usually utilizing the vast database of the whole internet. They are also capable of understanding more nuanced sentence structures and grammar, even contextualizing the whole conversation. They are able to answer questions beyond their initial programming. They're also able to continuously learn from these queries, constantly refining their responses to suit the user's needs.

These new Al models will change the way we interact with Al, even beyond their current use. The advanced language models will play a massive impact on customer service and support, education, entertainment, and even research. Their capability to analyze massive amounts of data and ease of tailor-fitting these to a user's needs makes it a clear viable partner in data and information gathering.
