Picking up a laptop by the corner can provide a moment of panic where your wrist joint decides to go AWOL. If that sounds familiar, the ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 10 is the perfect laptop for you, weighing only 1.1kg and made with a stiff combo of carbon fibre and magnesium.
Aside from a rubberised finish, Lenovo strays little from the classic ThinkPad playbook, augmenting the glass-coated touchpad with mouse buttons along the top edge and the red nub directly above the letter "B". It has the same snappy, responsive keyboard that ThinkPads are famous for, with concave caps to make them easy to find when touch typing.
Traditionalists will also be pleased by the excellent port selection, including HDMI, a USB-A port on either side, and two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports on the left.
The power button, above the Home key, doubles as a fingerprint reader.
The webcam is top centre, has a physical privacy cover and is better quality than the one used in the previous Carbon X1 generation. The only obvious missing feature is an SD card reader.
