₹49.92 lakh + taxes, nissan.in
The Nissan X-Trail, now in its fourth generation, has re-entered the Indian market as a fully imported model, marking a significant move by Nissan India towards leveraging global models directly. This version, priced just under Rs 50 lakh, introduces the world’s first variable compressionratio engine, the VC-Turbo, under the hood of the 1.5 VC-Turbo MHEV CVT variant.
Design and Build:
From a design perspective, the X-Trail adheres to Nissan’s contemporary aesthetic with a V-shaped grille and robust proportions. Measuring 4,680mm in length, it’s designed to compete in the premium SUV category, facing off against established players like the Škoda Kodiaq and Hyundai Tucson. Despite its urban testing ground in Gurugram, the X-Trail’s 210mm ground clearance and sophisticated suspension setup handle urban anomalies with aplomb, showcasing its capability for more than just city driving.
