The last time we had a serious look at the state of installation audio was October 2019. Commercial and residential audio was thriving and trade shows were growing exponentially as a new breed of IT-oriented integration companies were trying to combine audio products and expertise into their systems approach. Not surprisingly, just before what was to be the last large trade show before the pandemic (Integrated Systems Europe in February 2020, which was also the last edition in Amsterdam) we titled our Market Update "Integrated, Networked, and Secure." That clearly reflected the priorities for technology evolution and systems integration.
