Like poetry, the lives and love story of Azmi and Akhtar have their rhythms, flowing into a beautiful journey so far. Both the artists are overachievers in their fields and have become the modern-day power couple of the 21st century to the world that it is today. Their love is based on mutual respect and synergy, and even after multiple challenges and trials thrown at them by life, they both have continued to flourish as individuals and a team. Like a Bollywood film, their story had its beginning, some tension, romance, a climax and a happy ending.
THE TANDEM OF POWER
Born in Gwalior in 1945, Javed Akhtar is an award-winning poet, lyricist, screenwriter and political activist. His father, Jan Nisar Akhtar, was an acclaimed Bollywood film songwriter and Urdu poet. Born into a creative family, Akhtar began his career with Salim Khan, and the duo was fondly known as 'Salim-Javed' by the industry. He is known for his work in films like 'Zanjeer', 'Deewar', 'Sholay', 'Andaz', 'Don', 'Mr India', 'Dil Chahta Hai', 'Lakshya', 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara' and many more. His contribution to the world of motion cinema has been recognised various times. He has won National Film Award five times and Filmfare Award eight times; and continues to cite the magic of the lyricist. He also received Padma Shri in 1999 and Padma Bhushan in 2007, two of India's highest civilian honours. Akhtar also served as a Member of Parliament in Rajya Sabha.
